The Oldtimer Centre® at Marrickville is like an Aladdin’s Cave of excellent and well preserved prestige cars.
I was delighted to recently purchase a 2004 Mercedes S350 L, which suited my requirements perfectly.
Richard Simmons and Phillip Tarrant are perfect representatives of the Centre and I was fully informed of the vehicle that captured my attention through Phillip’s online video presentation.

It swallowed close to 1000km back to Brisbane in a single bite, cruising effortlessly.
Minor issue but the battery failed this morning, 6V when you turn the key to accessory, then 1V when you try and start. I’m not phased, and consider it consistent with how the vehicle was driven the last couple of years. Somewhat surprised your mechanics failed to pick this up though.
Nonetheless I’m very happy with the way you guys do things, along with your type of stock. You don’t buy crap and it clearly shows. I’d happily repeat the buying process in the future and would have no hesitation recommending to others.
I will look into a QLD RWC and get the registration changed over ASAP for you.

After 35 years of driving in Australia, I have had two severe car accidents that have left me with no doubt that a car built with safety in mind, is a very good idea. For that reason, I like Mercedes Benz vehicles.
A month or so ago, I commenced the search for a second hand diesel Mercedes Benz that would be economical to run and has, not only the safety aspects in it, but also it is a very comfortable car to drive.
Following the usual search in the internet and visiting numerous dealerships on Parramatta Road and around the North Shore of Sydney, I came across the Oldtime Centre. I dealt with Kristian Pege and Richard Simons.
From the moment I stepped into their premises in Marrickville, I was treated in a very friendly manner and shown not only the vehicle I was interested in, but other options they had available at the time.
A test drive was not a problem and I had ample time to look around the engine and check the quality of the car. The paperwork and service history of the car was all in hand and available to me as soon as I asked for it.
The car looks and drives beautifully. They invited me to make an offer and were willing to listen to a reasonable offer and I did not find the usual resistance normally experienced with other dealerships I have dealt with.
Once we agreed on the price, the transaction was painless and fast. They even transferred and registered the vehicle for me on the spot as they are authorized and capable of accessing the RMS site from their office.
I am very happy with the car, very happy with the price and impressed with their service. I would definitely buy a car from the Oltimer Centre again and look forward to keeping in touch. I recommend them highly.

I’ve been shopping around for my dream car and I came across Oldtimer, unlike any other dealers that I’ve been to, I was expecting the hard-selling, persuasive and pushy selling, which is very annoying as it is a lot of money to consider to ensure a good quality purchase. To my surprise Richard is definitely an honest and patient car dealer who has assisted me to get the car I always wanted. He looks after all his vehicles very well, making sure they are quality products when they go out the door, which made me felt secure about the quality of the vehicle both inside and out.
I have recently purchased an Audi A6 from Richard and I am delighted with the acquisition. Richard was honest, to the point, straight forward and a pleasure to deal with.

I can’t afford to buy a new Mercedes S Class, but it has been my preferred car for the past 20 years. I typically upgrade every five years. For the past year I had been keen to acquire my fifth S Class: a 220 Series S430, but they still seemed to be priced above my budget. Then I fortuitously came across Richard Simons’ Oldtimer Centre, which turned out to be my lucky day. Richard had just acquired a magnificent fully-optioned S430, offered for sale at a price well below all the others then available. Richard offered me a good trade-in price on my 420SEL and included a full service of the S430 in the deal, which turned out to be very much to my advantage, as the car needed a couple of expensive parts. So I now have an S430 which is practically as good as new for a fraction of a new car price.
Richard is by far the best car dealer I have ever come across. He is extremely professional, courteous and honest. One of the things I really appreciated was that he didn’t try to devalue my trade-in by saying nasty things about it (a typical dealer tactic in my experience). He was also totally honest about the car he was selling; acknowledging that it needed a major service, that he would pay for – which he did. Richard also helped me with the transfers of registration and my personalised number plates.

We have recently bought a BMW 325Ci from Richard, which was for my dad. We had been looking around for a while and had seen almost every BMW coupe on Parramatta Road. When we called him, he dealt with us like a friend, not like as a dealer. He helped us after hours at his place as we worked til 5pm. His manner was professional, the transaction was smooth and he negotiated a very good price that was within our budget. The car had some issues when we first looked at it, but he promised that all will be fixed and also cleaned once the keys are handed over to us, and rest assured in 2 days when we picked it up, the car was like brand new. I can truly say that it’s hard find a person that honest.
My experience in dealing with Richard Simons at the Old Timer Centre has been absolutely superb. I can only describe it as Rolls Royce service. From the very informative and excellently designed web site, to Richard’s careful and detailed responses to my questions, his efficiency, personability, the flawless presentation of the vehicle- a wonderful Lexus- and after sales service, he has set new standards not only in the motor vehicle industry but in merchandising generally. I had been researching where I could get a particular Saab for 3 months and when I located the one that had it all I was unsure of what it would be like to purchase a car from an interstate dealer. I took the first step by calling Richard and letting him know of my special interest in the Saab that he had on the website and asked some questions.
I found Richard to be most accommodating, sincere and friendly. After a few more phone calls I felt secure enough to take the dive to travel to Sydney from Melbourne and drive the Saab back home. A new adventure but a risk nevertheless.

I had been on the lookout for a Mercedes W140 S500 for some time – a vehicle was advertised by Oldtimer Centre® and I inspected and drove the vehicle within the first week of it being advertised. Richard happily facilitated taking the car for an independent inspection at my selected Benz specialist, and then was able to arrange some repairs to the car in a cost effective manner. Within 3 weeks I was driving home in my chosen car. Richard went out of his way to be helpful and I would not hesitate to go to Oldtimer Centre® first when looking for another European car.

I bought a 2003 VW Passat from Richard. I live in Geelong (Vic) so buying a car from interstate without looking at it I thought was risky, however Richard made the process so easy for me. The service I was provided was 2nd to none. There was not a single question Richard could not answer, he was always prompt and polite.
My father flew to Sydney to collect the car with Richard collecting him from the airport at 8am. Once at the car yard Richard was very hospitable towards my father and assisted him getting out of Sydney with a full tank of fuel.
Oh, by the way the car is amazing, straight through on the Vic roadworthy.
I was searching the I-net for a Citroen capable of towing 1,5 ton and found it at the oldtimer centre in Sydney. After the first contact with Richard I had the feeling I could trust him and it would be the right car , I only had to sell my 2CV first . When this was accomplished I phoned Richard again and luckily the car was still available . The question was, could I afford the transport cost to Tasmania? With a discount from Richard we got a deal, everything went smoothly. In Tassie the car was no problem to register. A checkout by my mechanic followed, who commented very positively and told me I have a very good car . On my way home one bang and the car stopped (broken connecting rod through the block) I was devastated ! To cut the story short nobody could explain why; then something incredible happened : I am 68 years old and have never heard nor seen anything like this before neither in Australia nor anywhere in Europe ! RICHARD THE CARDEALER (we all know their reputation) offered to help !!! There was no fault from his side, nor any accusation from my side. With repair cost probably up to $ 4,000 , Richard forwarded $ 1,000 towards the engine cost. What a man ! I can only highly recommend his honest and trustworthy business and for myself , I will be back – should he ever want to deal with me again!

It’s common that we write to express our disappointment at a purchase but rare that we acknowledge our delight and the latter is the purpose of this email.
In buying our Saab 9-5 Wagon the total experience has been exceptional and in scouring the classifieds I have yet to see one in the same condition at a price close to what we paid.
From the initial inquiry, the follow up, identifying a “small coolant leak” on inspection and getting a new radiator without hesitation when many would have been happy with a repair through to your unflinching response to a problem under warranty that was fixed without hesitation, every interaction was simply flawless.
Over the years I have bought new Land Rover’s (Series II Discovery); New Fairmont Ghia’s; and various Nissans; Mitsubishis and Hyundai’s as well as a Lexus and your approach and service is as close to a “Lexus Experience” as I have found.. and they are of course the benchmark when it comes to customers for transactions worth tens of thousands more.
So quite simply… thank you and well done!
