This is a lovely survivor car, purchased from the estate of the original owner pre-covid.
It has had all rust repaired. K frame, plenum, firewall, underneath the load area, and the swage lines in front of the rear wheels. Everything was new panel sections, or properly repaired with fabricated metal and not bog. Lots of photos taken during the body work showing this. Well over $10,000 was spent on this part of the refurb.

The chrome is shiny, but unrestored and very presentable.

Let’s be clear. It won’t win a concourse, but will be a top car for the new owner. All rust or panel damage have been carefully blended in with acrylic, not 2pac. It’s probably 70% original duco, with some age-related flaws. For example the bonnet is a bit flat, and has quite a few stone chips. It could be painted longer-term, but where do you stop without removing the cars impressive originality? There’s some cracking to the lead wiping around the rear window. The tailgate has had a visible touch up.

The cargo area presents well having had a go over with brand new timber floor, and tidied up duco to the sides and wheel wells.

It is now completely rust free. Even the notorious spare wheel well storage is tidy and rust free.

It’s been subject to a mechanical refurbishment from bumper to bumper.
Fully rebuilt Grey, which runs like a Swiss watch, and has only covered about 250 miles since the rebuild. Hardened valve seats for unleaded. Carby, starter, distributor and generator have all been rebuilt. The radiator has been re-cored.

It has a brand new clutch and rebuilt gearbox. Unis replaced, and tailshaft balanced. The diff is fine, so we didn’t touch it.

All suspension rubbers replaced. Brakes are new from pedal to shoes. Front end rebuilt as required, including king pins, steering box, drag links etc. Complete exhaust and 80 profile tyres are new to top it off.

The interior has been restored with an Obsolete Auto Rubber floor mat, and NOS seat and parcel shelf, which is stunning. Door cards are original, but in good order, and I would leave them. Hood lining is new repro. Front and rear screen rubbers are new, as are door rubbers. It does need quarter pane rubbers, unless I get around to them before it’s sold. I have a pair to go with the car.

If you want a tidy original, survivor car with a comprehensive mechanical restoration, then this is the car you’ll want. Remember that 98% of FB/EK utes have long since gone to auto Heaven. She will outlive you, and put a bloody big smile on your face in the process. She’d make a great business run around for a garage, antique store etc.
