Recently traded in at our Sydney based car dealership this lovely Renault 10 from 1970 is a real head turner! The red and blue stripes look superb and it’s currently registered here in NSW. Having spent 20 years in an Adelaide car museum it’s so good to drive and the interior is very original indeed. This is one of those cars that we believe will hold it’s value very well moving forwards and is a good entry in to the classic car market. With its 1.1 litre engine the R-10 was the last of the line of rear-engine Renaults. It had evolved from the first, the post-war Renault 4CV, developed in secret under the noses of the occupying German forces during World War II. The R-10 was essentially an R-8 that had been stretched by eight inches to provide more legroom, and a bit more space up front for luggage. Like the R-8, it featured disc brakes on all four wheels, highly sophisticated equipment for an economy car of its time. Steering was by rack and pinion, with a relatively quick 3.4 turns from lock to lock. The suspension was fully independent, by control arms and coil springs up front, and swing axles, radius rods and coil springs in the rear.
