Presented here is an immaculate very early 996, amongst a group of early MY99 cars hand built on the 993 production line, prior to the establishment of the 996 production line. (note cars between CY97 – Oct99 were designated MY99). MY99 996’s have the following unique 993 features;

1) 993 head lining (blue vinyl not alcantara),
2) 993 CDR221 CD players (date stamped 95, 96, 97),
3) 993 4 spoke steering wheel (included), and
4) Optional 993 stamped ‘Technology’ 18″ Turbo Holspeiche (hollow spoke) wheels.

Factory features making this a particularly attractive 996 include;

1) Connolly leather interior as used by Rolls Royce (Porsche used this leather for MY99 996’s only). This includes dash, seats, door panels, and A,B,C pillars, and rear parcel shelf. Condition is immaculate.

2) Porsche Premium Sound, including 10X speakers (4x 2 way + 2 door speakers) CDR-21 Radio / CD and CD stacker.

3) Pre traction control and pre side airbags another weight saving,

4) Cable Throttle, the last 911 to have a steel cable throttle allowing a pure analog driving experience, prior to E-throttle with cars from MY00 designation,

5) Cast pistons, which eliminated bore scoring in early MY99 996 cars. For this reason Porsche collectors desire pre CY99 cars,

6) Rear wiper delete, a very desirable option for 996’s

7) Rare and ultra lightweight ‘option 408’ Holspeiche 18″ Technology Turbo Twist wheels. These remain the lightest road wheel Porsche has ever used, being lighter than the 964RS hollow spoke wheels. Wheels were restored at great expense by Virgin Wheels in Sydney. These wheels are ~2.6kg per wheel lighter, saving over 10kg in unsprung weight.

8) ’24 date stamped Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres, in correct factory sizing, 265/35 and 225/40 R18.

9) The 996 ‘MY99’ with option 408 wheels is the lightest road car Porsche has manufactured with 300hp, at 1,320kg, which is lighter than a 996 Mk1 GT3 at 1350kg+

10) The 996 3.4 manual is faster than a 993RS, with top speed at 178MPH. 0-100 time for this model is 4.8-5.1 seconds based on motoring journalists at the time.

Non-factory fitted additions (completely reversible) include; Three spoke Porsche steering wheel, short shift gear lever mechanism, and 993RS semi-solid engine mounts.
